Macbeth
This masterpiece of the Elizabethan era is one of the few plays in the world repertoire in need of no introduction. "Macbeth" is a tragedy which lends itself to a moving theatrical experience which pulsates with life. Given that terror, repression and social and ideological instability were part and parcel of daily life for the people of Shakespeare’s time, and that the work was written in an era of crisis and dramatic political, social and ideological change for Britain and the whole of Europe, the drawing of parallels between Shakespeare’s era and our own must surely be as unavoidable as it is perilous. Thomas Moschopoulos, a director with a reputation for ensemble pieces, has worked on this ambitious venture with an outstanding group of artists, the majority of whom are long-term collaborators in his theatrical adventures.
