CARMEN

Opera, as a particularly demanding art form, has ceased to exclusively concern only artists of the genre and is addressed to a special audience. Theater directors who want to renew their means of expression and enrich their artistic vocabulary have begun to give in to the challenge of opera and its high artistic demands, especially in Europe, in recent years. Thus, opera now becomes a field of research and experimentation for directors, singers, actors and stage designers in an attempt to break out as an artistic genre from the established ones, to approach modern reality and to appeal to a wider - and why not - younger audience . [...] Stathis Livathinos and his team dare for the first time to approach the theme of CARMEN not only from the perspective of the libretto of Bizet's well-known opera but also from the lesser-known version of Merimet's novella, which was also the source of inspiration for its authors libretto. The show, which has an experimental character and its dramaturgical treatment, is the product of collaboration between the director and the six actors and will be presented in an alternative outdoor space at Kerameikou Street, no. 28, in Metaxourgeio, in a neighborhood with cultural peculiarities, an area artistically alive in full development that seeks proposals that draw inspiration from itself and its peculiar character.
