EROICA
Eroica by Kosmas Politis is a significant piece of Greek literature and lucky for you, it is coming to life under stage lights! The young protagonists of Eroica face love and death as they transition from childhood and adolescence.
Eroica was published in 1937 and the novel is a representation of Greek adolescence, depicting experiences of maturity, boredom, tragedy and love.
The plot unfolds to a fantastic city in an eerie, intense atmosphere. The relationship between the protagonists are defined by their interpretation on the meaning of life while a series of unexpected experiences gradually shape their affinity for life. It is a coming-of-age story where the realization of teenage thinking brings forth a cliche yet sad epiphany: life cannot always be care-free, yet it is the worth of every moment that marks the significance of their being.
Yolanda Markopoulou directs a group of young actors, who use both narration and dialogue to "celebrate" this coming-of-age story.
